Robert Morris Recap
2/1/2011by Kate Ryan

Coming off a pair of losses at the hands of Cincinnati last weekend and another against Adrian on Wednesday (1/19), the Rockets traveled to Chicago, IL this past weekend looking for a much needed change of fortune.  They managed to accomplish just that with a pair of solid wins over Robert Morris University.

On Friday (1/21), the Rockets hit the ice running and downed the Eagles by a margin of 7-4. All seven Toledo goals came from different players with Espinosa, Kanis, Saunders, Hess, Swansegar, Hickson, and Frissell each getting their name on the score sheet.  In net, goaltender Kerry Schwable put up another solid performance with a save percentage of 0.852.

With Friday’s game not finishing until after 11 pm, the team didn’t have much time to prepare for the second round with Robert Morris which started at 10 am Saturday morning.  The team showed no let down though as they skated to an 11-4 victory.  Sophomore Scott Girardi and freshman Justin Saunders paced the Rockets, each contributing a hat trick.  Junior Justin Phillips chipped in two goals and two assists for a four point game while freshman Kyle Swansegar did his share with a goal and two assists.

The Rockets hope a short week of practice will help keep this momentum going as they open up a three game weekend starting with Adrian at Tam-O-Shanter Arena on Thursday at 9 pm.  The team then takes on the University of Pittsburgh and West Virginia University on Friday and Saturday respectively.
