After participating in Toledo’s annual Hockeyfest for the first time this year, the University of Toledo hockey team will continue to help support the KC3 Trust at its remaining home games. To help raise funds for the non-profit organization, the Rockets will be selling Toledo Walleye ticket vouchers during their final four home games. These vouchers will be sold for $15 and can be exchanged at the Walleye ticket office for great seats to the Walleye game of your choice. Proceeds from each sale go to support the rising living and medical expenses of Kyle Cannon.
The Toledo Hockeyfest was started three years ago after Kyle, a Clay High School hockey player, was paralyzed while playing in a high school game. Since then, Hockeyfest has been held to help raise funds for Kyle’s treatment and to raise awareness for the issues paralyzed individuals have to deal with on a daily basis. This event started with only one game between Clay High School and Anthony Wayne which drew over 4,000 people; an Ohio High School Athletic Association record. It has since grown to a two day event showcasing the many levels of hockey the Greater Toledo area has to over.
The University of Toledo Hockey program is very proud to have taken part in Hockeyfest this year and looks forward to contributing to this great cause for many years to come.
