Cody Estrel Commits to Toledo
4/23/2015

The University of Toledo hockey team is very proud to announce Cody Estrel will be the team’s first commitment for the 2015 recruitment class.  Cody most recently played for the Toledo Cherokee of the NA3HL where he led the team in scoring during the 14-15 season.  Cody’s 59 pts were good for 11th overall in the NA3HL and helped lead the Cherokee into the NA3 playoffs.

Prior to playing for the Cherokee, Estrel was a key member of the Sylvania Northview program.  During his time at Northview, Estrel was part of teams which won one NHC championship, appeared in three straight OHSAA Final Fours, and won two Ohio State Championships.  As part of those teams, Cody was elected to multiple all conference teams and state all-star games.

This winning pedigree is a big part of the reason Cody will be a key member of the UT Hockey program immediately.  Head Coach Daniel Conway had this to say about Cody’s commitment, “We are very excited for the experience he will bring.  He is obviously a talented player and we are happy to welcome him as a Rocket!”

Coming off their third straight appearance at the ACHA Regional Tournament and a berth at the ACHA National Tournament, the Rockets are looking to continue their winning ways and take the next step towards bringing a National Championship back to Toledo.  Cody and the rest of the 2015 class will be a key part in accomplishing that goal.
