Game Day Operations Intern        

The University of Toledo Ice Hockey team seeks highly motivated individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in the sports industry. Game Day Operations Interns will work closely with the Director of Game Day Operations and General Manager in their game day activities. This position entails a great deal of organization and communication and provides first-hand experience in game day operations.

 

Responsibilities Include:

• Playing a key role to successful operation of home games and team events
• Assist in score board operations, admissions gate, and in-game music
• Assist in preparing game night activities and signage
• Assist in set-up and break-down of admission and merchandise tables
• Assist in creation and distribution of game programs and promotional items
• Interact well with team, staff, and fans

Qualifications Include:

• General interest in sports management, public relations, marketing or communications.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask and complete tasks within deadlines
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Must be available for a majority of home games

• Internships are not compensated

Video Production Intern        

The University of Toledo Ice Hockey team seeks highly motivated individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in the sports industry. Video Production Interns will work closely with the Director of Game Day Operations and General Manager as they help promote the University of Toledo Ice Hockey team and help the team better prepare for upcoming contests. This position entails a great deal of organization and communication and provides first-hand experience in athletic video production.

 

Responsibilities Include:

• Film home games
• Create highlight clips for the team website, social media platforms and local media outlets
• Assist in archiving and logging footage
• Assist in operation and maintenance of camera and audio equipment

Qualifications Include:

• General interest in sports photography and video and/or sports management, public relations, or marketing.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask and complete tasks within deadlines
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Must be available for a majority of the games

Equipment Staff Member        

The University of Toledo Ice Hockey team seeks highly motivated individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in the sports industry. Equipment Staff Members will work closely with the players, Coaching Staff, and General Manager to help maintain and prepare team equipment.  This position entails a great deal of organization and communication and provides first-hand experience in the sports industry. 

 

Responsibilities Include:

• Playing a key role to successful operation of the team’s daily activities 

• Assist with maintenance of the team locker room and equipment 

• Preparing the team locker room for game days 

• Assist with preparing team supplies for away games 

• Skate sharpening 

• Keeping accurate inventory of team supplies and communicating to General Manager when new supplies are required 

• Interact well with team, staff, and fans 

Qualifications Include:

• General interest in sports management, specifically team operations and/or equipment 

• Strong oral and written communication skills 

• Ability to multitask and complete tasks within deadlines 

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs 

• Willingness to learn new skills and ability to adapt to new situations or challenges. 

General Information:

• University of Toledo Ice Hockey home games are played at Team Toledo Ice House located at 1258 W Alexis Rd  Toledo, OH 43612 

• Time commitment is negotiable based on an individual's availability.  The team practices twice per week and plays 1 to 2 games per weekend from September through February.  Applicants with the availability to do so would be welcome to attend all team events including away games.  Applicants with any level of availability will be considered. 

• Equipment Staff Members are not compensated 

• Equipment Staff Members do receive participatory benefits including team merchandise, some travel expenses for away games, and game day tickets for friends and family

Sports Information Intern        

The University of Toledo Ice Hockey team seeks highly motivated individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in the sports industry. Sports Information Interns will work closely with the Director of Game Day Operations and General Manager as they help promote the University of Toledo Ice Hockey team. This position entails a great deal of organization and communication and provides first-hand experience in sports information. 

 

Responsibilities Include:

• Writing game recaps, press releases, and news stories relating to team activities and members 

• Assist in promoting games and other team events 

• Assist in generating publicity from local media outlets 

• Assist in monitoring team social media platforms 

• Assist in tracking team stats and keeping team records up to date

Qualifications Include:

• General interest in sports management, public relations, marketing or communications. 

• Strong oral and written communication skills 

• Ability to multitask and complete tasks within deadlines 

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs 

• Must be available for a majority of home games
